Pull up a chair,
Let's CEP Together, Community Economic Partnership Opportunity

Community Economic Powerhouse

Our leading Community Economic Powerhouse effort is the multi-decade stormwater problem plaguing the small community in Weirsdale Florida.  Over a half century in the making, the Storm-water problem is currently being addressed.

The roads were sand and the railroad tracks divided the communities in that area.  Our issue is storm water and roads that dump storm water into the community.   Community leaders have reached out to the Marion County Commissioners for a solution and it appears that the long awaited fix of the problem is about to take place.

Downhill from County Hiway 42 storm water flows from highway 42 into the neighborhood to the west. The road grade toward the intersection of 134 ave road and SE 167 lane is down hill and slanted to the west.  Gravity flow is toward the intersection.  Residents do what they can to stop the torrent of storm water into their community however it is useless.  Authorities and the community agree that water from the county road discharges into the historic, main service road to the Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School.  Recently a new access road was built leading to the school, however for 50 plus years, this road was the prime service road for Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary.
Community Empowerment Project aimed at fixing the multi decade Storm-Water Problem in the Stanton Weirsdale neighborhood.
There are 5 major areas that will receive immediate attention from many levels of government and private efforts.  This is really a Community Empowerment Project worthy of CEP Florida's Council of Economic Partners.
