We don’t think it is legal under FS 125.045 or Chapter 288 EDC, or Ethics FS 112.311. Florida will not grow economically under a high control socialist Private-Public system of business, attraction, and retention in an area. This type of system was famously tried in Cuba most recently and it produced poverty and privation for the Cuban people for over 50 years and counting. Socialism seems like a great clean hopeful idea when it begins, however, if the best that will come to an area must go through a governmental filter of government funding and authority, the region is doomed financially, politically, and socially. Additionally, Government Partners could never keep up with a free market private enterprise effort to meet the needs of out of state clients. It does not seem to be legal for any elected official to partner with a private company and give or transfer official government standing on a single organization. A good example is the City of Belleview. The City Officials funded an EDC and used the Chamber to promote the Belleview Economic Development Agenda, but they did not project their City Charter Powers onto the Chamber in order to sell $5,000 to $10,000 to $20,000 shares/partnerships in the City Authority. The MCBCC Partnership with the CEP Chamber does not have real governmental powers it would seem. We will see. Can any government official project their authority and power on a private project, owned by a friend creating a partnership then sell memberships? Reading of the statutes it does not appear so. It would seem infinitely more productive and powerful for many free market companies working in the capitalist system rather than a single selected company selected by five commissioners who can't even talk with each other. It doesn’t appear that the buddy system of using a chamber to sell shares of a partnership is passing the test with authorities in Tallahassee and Washington DC. More later. Go to CEP Florida Contact and voice your opinion.
